Ensuring you spend time on yourself is a must! Self care is more important now than ever and making sure both your physical and mental health is looked after is key to living a healthy lifestyle.
Sometimes life can get on top of us! Work, Kids, Running a Business, Pets, Parents...the list goes on! But stopping for even 10 minutes a day can really help make your day more productive and less stressful.
Below are some tips to help you with your Me Time. Read through and practice any you think may be beneficial to you and your mental wellbeing. We know that everyone's days are busy, but please don't forget about you!
A good place to start....
If you're able to take 10 minutes from your hectic schedule, whether that be during your lunch break at work, before you start cooking dinner, when the kids have gone to bed or before you go to bed, make sure you do something that calms you, makes you happy or something a little different from your everyday routine. Below are a few activities you can do during your Me Time!
Reading a book:
Pop your comfies on, light a candle and delve into a good book! I personally have never been too interested in books but have recently started reading one that has been so easy to get into! I now take time every day, usually before I go to bed, to read a few pages (or however many I feel like reading) to get my mind into a state of relaxation. I usually do this whilst burning one of our Sleep (Lavender) soy candles, to really help me get into a good night time routine.
Night time routine:
Speaking of night time routines, this is another great way to have a bit of You Time. Pj's on, skincare routine, soothing tea (or a hot chocolate in my case!), a good book or your favourite tv show and just relax. This will help your body get into a better sleeping pattern by knowing that after this routine is complete, it'll be ready for bed.
Take a walk:
This one can be done at any point during the day but if you want to get out of your same old daytime routine, take a walk. This can be round the block or in the park, or even just round the garden! Getting outside and being with nature and in the fresh air is a great way to boost your endorphins and can help to make your day more productive and think clearer. I usually pop my headphones in when I go for a walk! If you have a dog, you can combine both your daily walks and enjoy the nature together!
Who doesn't love a good old bubble bath!? The perfect way to relax after a stressful busy day at work. Light some candles, add some soothing bubble bath or a bath bomb and just...breathe. Not only do baths help ease the stress and tension in your mind, they also help physically too! Baths are great for any muscular pain you may have and can release that tension built up in your shoulders.
Of course there are so many other ways you can look after your mental health and indulge in a little self care! However you like to do it, make sure you do make time to do it!
